Erie Academy students ...
entering the competitive world, have won top positions in local, regional, national and international events. Labeled as the "Fiercest Hair Competition on the East Coast," the International Hair Show, held every May in New Jersey, produced a number of top honors by TONI&GUY - Erie students Ashley Sedmak and Kimberly Emery. Hailey Freidel, a TONI&GUY - Erie student from the Washington, D.C. area, won 1st Place in Texarkana, TX then went on to win 2nd Place in the Mid-West National Competition in Chicago, IL.
Annual Photographic Awards
Students have the opportunity to enter their work into the prestigious TONI&GUY Photographic Awards contest, which culminates at the industry renowned annual TONI&GUY hair show, attended by several thousand students and stylists from across the country. Darren Fagley, a TONI&GUY - Erie Academy student, gained prominence in the 2005 TONI&GUY Photographic Award with his winning style, Euro Model, which was published and distributed worldwide.
Other Success Stories
Dan McHenry had the opportunity to do hair styling for a segment of the MTV program Sweet 16 that was shot locally. He continues to head up the hair styling and makeup for the North Coast Dance Conservatory's annual production of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. After graduation, he opened his own hair salon, McHenry & Co.
Darren Fagley, who had his Euro Model style published in the 2005 Photographic Awards, went on to become a stylist at the TONI&GUY Salon in Pineville, NC, and is now in management at that location.
