ERIE Academy :: Admissions

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS 
  • The student is offered a tour of the campus before enrolling.       
  •  All applicants to the Institute must complete an Application for Admission (with a $25.00 Application fee) and attend a personal interview, which determines the possibility of the individual's success in their chosen program. Parents, guardians and significant others are encouraged to attend.  The Application Fee is refundable, if requested in writing, within 60 days of the date of the submitted Application for Admission, if the applicant decides not to attend, or is not accepted.
  • Applicants for Cosmetology careers must be at least sixteen (16) years old by the time they start their program. 
  • Applicants must be a High School graduate or possess a General Education Diploma (GED). 
    •  A student's high school transcript is generally required for evaluation prior to acceptance.
    • An applicant must submit proof by an official transcript from the issuing authority for a high school diploma, or a copy of a GED certificate and/or GED test scores. 
  • Proof of a health exam (done within 1 year prior to start date) including vitals, laboratory diagnostic test results, and/or immunizations must be presented must be presented.
  • Approved funding for the program costs is an admissions requirement.
  • A $100.00 registration fee is required before an acceptance letter will be issued.  The registration fee is fully refundable up to the start of the class.
  • Upon completion of the above requirements of admission, the school administration will review the information and then inform the applicant in writing if they have been accepted for enrollment.  If an applicant is not accepted, all fees paid will be refunded.
  • All applicants must complete an Enrollment Agreement.  If the student is under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian must also sign the Enrollment Agreement.
  • All students will be required to attend an orientation session held prior to the beginning of a program.  This is an important part of the education process and covers important items for new students.

ADVANCED STANDING - TRANSFER STUDENTS

In the Cosmetology Programs, hours of previous training documented and approved by the Pennsylvania State Licensing Board may be recognized.  A student transferring from another cosmetology school must provide:

  • 1. A notarized transcript from the original school listing the hours earned by the student
  • 2. Verification from the appropriate licensing authority that the other school is licensed in that state, in the case of a student transferring from an out-of-state school.
