Santa Monica Academy Soiree

On Sunday, October 5th, Santa Monica Academy presented a soiree production of superb quality called “Eclectic”. The students created hair and make up for each segment defining their inventive talents. The crowd was mesmerized by the sheer genius of the students’ work.
Admission Policy

Admission Policy
The school is accepting applicants for admissions as regular students once one of the following criteria has been met: Applicant must provide a copy of his/her U.S. High School Diploma, GED, California State Proficiency Test or its equivalent. For a student that has immigrated to the United States, and cannot provide an actual copy of the High School Diploma or its equivalent, the applicant will be required to write a statement certifying the completion of U.S. High School or its equivalent. The statement must include the name of the High school, city, state and country where the High schools is located, date of graduation and the reason why records may not be available.
Admission Test: Currently, TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy uses the Wonderlic Basic Skills Test to determine the student’s ability to be trained in the courses offered by TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy. The admissions personnel will provide applicants with additional information as to how to arrange for the test. Students must take and pass the test before being admitted in school by signing the enrollment contract and before the first day of class.

Tuition and Fee Schedule
Effective April 1, 2007, charges will continue to be ***ed and billed on the basis on per payment ***.
COSMETOLOGY COURSE TUITION $15,800.00 REGISTRATION $75.00 KITS $2,000.00 TOTAL $17,875.00 WEEKS 47
a – REFUNDABLE. Cost shown represents cost for the entire course. b – Fees may be non-refundable c – NONREFUNDABLE. Once issued, kits are not returnable due to sanitary considerations. d – Length of course duration will vary in accordance to the number of hours the student is expected to attend on a weekly basis as stated on the enrollment agreement. e – The instructional charges for the first 300 hours are calculated as $10.00 per hour. The instructional charges for the second 300 hours are calculated as $10.00 per hour. Subsequent hours are ***ed an hourly rate of $10.50 per hour. These differences on the hourly rates are due to the instructional dedication and operating cost of instruction involved during the first two sections of 300 hours.
Extra Instruction Charges
If a student reaches the expected graduation date stated on his/her contract and needs additional time to complete hours and/or operations, an additional charge of $150.00 per day will be ***ed until graduation.
Re-Entry Policy
All students who withdraw in good standing may re-enter into the course of study without the loss of credit for prior hours and operations earned during the prior enrollment. If the student transferred to other institution before returning to TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy, those hours and operations earned at that institution will also be credited to the student for the new re-enrollment. Each re-entry is treated on an individual basis. TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy reserves the right to reject students that had withdrawn from TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy twice before.

Course Schedules for 2007-2008
Day cl***are scheduled to start the first Tuesday or the first available business day of the month. School hours are Tuesday through Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Calendar/Holidays
TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy is closed on Sunday, Monday for basic cosmetology training. The following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day. Being absent the day before and/or after a designated holiday or break will result in suspension.

Requirements for Graduation
TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy has set forth minimum standards for completion requirements for graduation of each program to include: Satisfaction of (we had TCC needs replaced with California Commission). This includes: • Completing 1600 clock hours in a licensed cosmetology program • Maintaining an 80% or higher grade point average throughout the program • Completing all exams and requirements of the course; passing senior test-out is required • Following all rules and regulations included in the General Rules an Regulations of the (California Commission?) • Fulfillment of practical operations required by the school • Completion of the program within 1.5 times the normal length of the program • Payment of all tuition and fees to the school before graduation day
Upon meeting the above criteria, a diploma will be issued, as well as the students transcripts. The student will then be a graduate of the TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy. Thereafter, the school will request a State Board Exam for the graduate. The state will send the notification to the school and the school will contact the student regarding the exam.
Graduation Requirements
When a student has completed the required theory hours and practical operations in Cosmetology with a GPA of “B” (80%) or better and the student has paid in full all tuition and fees, he or she is awarded a diploma certifying his or her graduation. The school will *** the students in completing the necessary documents to file for the appropriate State of California Barbering and Cosmetology Department examination.
Licensing Requirements
Applicant must be 17 years of age or older and have completed the 10th grade. A Cosmetology license will be granted by the State of California only after the student has successfully completed and graduated from the Cosmetology course as described above and passed the State Barbering and Cosmetology Department examination with an overall average of 75%.
Due to sanitary reasons, the equipment once issued and accepted by the student, is no longer returnable to the school upon withdrawal from the course of enrollment. The equipment therefore, becomes the property and responsibility of the student.

Career Coaching
The school coaches the students individually as often as necessary, coaching takes place in monitoring the student progress as scheduled for the *** of enrollment. Salon owners and stylists are invited to the school regularly to give demonstrations and discuss career goals with the students. This activity supplements the daily coaching carried out by the instructors and office staff.
Placement
TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy does not guarantee placement to any student. However, limited job placement ***ance is provided to graduates at no additional charge. Upon graduation, the student’s name is recorded in a placement register for the follow-up process. Results from the California State Barbering and Cosmetology Department license examination are recorded as passed or failed. Students that failed the exam are encouraged to return to TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy for ***ance and guidance for subsequent attempts to pass the exam. Placement ***ance is providing by reviewing the listings of salons seeking employees, their job requirements, salary, and other pertinent information. Students are referred to interviews and the results of these interviews are recorded in the placement register. The school may show prospective students this register upon request.

Facilities
The TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy is located two blocks north from the main shopping area called the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, California, just a short walk from the Pacific Ocean. The facility is 9,738 square feet of educational space and is designed to visually resemble and operate like a salon in its accessibility and accommodations for both students and clinic floor clients. As you step into the TONI&GUY Academy you will find our Reception area and the spacious lobby along with an expansive retail space that showcases TIGI hair care and cosmetic products. The clinic floor is a beautiful and astoundingly modern facility that contains state of the art equipment. Among these are stainless steel stations and fixtures, ceramic porcelain floors, glass walls to both classrooms and offices, slightly elevated classrooms that overlook the clinic floor equipped with an elevator lift, and sound systems throughout. There are several flat plasma screen televisions in classrooms, labs and the grand theater room to view educational videos. There is one large open area designated for the dispensary which accommodates the use of wash bowls, shampoos, conditioners, styling products, hair colors and developers. There is one sizeable break room equipped with a refrigerator, soda machine, microwave and coffee maker. Also, men’s and women’s restrooms that include three stalls each and a wheelchair accessible restroom are available for students, clients and staff. The grand theater room opens with sliding glass doors, seats approximately 100 people and is used to conduct education every Tuesday through Friday as well as gatherings and special events.
Orientation Class
Orientation cl***are held before the first day of cl*** the student would have physically visited and reviewed the school facilities and have signed an enrollment contract for the course of study with the institution.
Scholarships
TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy does not have an institutional scholarship program.
